Japan knocks out Dutch women's team in football World Cup

The Dutch women's football team have been eliminated in the second round of the World Cup after a 2-1 loss to Japan in Vancouver, Canada. Oranje fell behind in the tenth minute after a goal by Saori Ariyoshi, NU reports. Twelve minutes from time Mizuho Sakaguchi got the second goal. A goal by Kristen van de Ven put Oranje on the score board, but it was too late. If Oranje had won, the team would have qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next year. Now the Dutch team will have to compete with Switzerland, Norway and Sweden for one ticket in the spring of next year.
