Ikea ban on sugary soda sales begins in autumn

Ikea Netherlands will stop selling carbonated soft drinks from mid-September. The soft drinks will be replaced by "fruit water", which contains 50 percent less sugar, a spokesperson confirmed to NU. A test run with this fruit water was started in Belgium on Tuesday. The intention is that all Ikea stores will soon be soda free. "Replacing soda with fruit water for good is the next step in our efforts to make the Ikea restaurants healthier and more responsible", spokesperson Annique van der Valk told NU. The fruit water contains contains only natural flavor and colorants. It is available in six different flavors, including raspberry, pear, lime and elderflower.
