Artists arrange concert to save NPO Radio 6

A number of artists will be holding a concert in Vondelpark in Amsterdam on Monday afternoon in an effort to save NPO Radio 6. The announcement that NPO plans to stop Radio 6 from next year was announced in March. The artists want to stop this from happening, because otherwise there will be too little jazz heard on the radio. The concert was organized by the Concertgebouw's Jazz Orchestra. "We want to send a big signal, so the more soul and jazz fans standing in the park, the better", Juan Martinez, business leader of the jazz group, said to NOS. He feels that NPO Radio 6 is indispensable for Dutch soul and jazz. "It is the platform for many Dutch artists, venues and festivals that use this way to make contact with the public." The concert will be taking place on Monday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with artist such as saxophonist Benjamin Herman, singers Sabrina Starke, Ruben Hein, Sarah Jane and Myles Sanko performing.
