Labour senator first to criticize party leadership

PvdA Senator Adri Duivesteijn thinks it is incomprehensible that his party's 6 seat loss in the provincial elections did not lead to an announcement of a change in course. He thinks it is only reasonable to question whether the course that the cabinet has chosen should be the course that the PvdA stays on. "It seems as if the top of the party is living in another world than the party itself, in my opinion." Duivesteijn said on BNR. "They have a mission, they are working on something, but is that still the PvdA standing there, or is it a few people who have given themselves a mission?" Duivesteijn will not judge whether or not the PvdA should leave the cabinet, but he thinks that it is quite clear that the PvdA is no longer a recognizable party for the voters and for many of the party's members. "The first thing to do now is to look at yourself. And to ask yourself whether it is wise to proceed in this way." he said.
