Northern Lights spotted across Netherlands

The Northern Lights could be spotted in the Netherlands last night. Many people, especially from the northern parts of the Netherlands, posted pictures and tweets of the red and green colored sky on Twitter last night. The Northern Lights is a somewhat rare occurrence in the Netherlands, but a prolonged eruption of the sun (geomagnetic storm) made it possible last night. Large volumes of charged particles are hurled into the universe during such a storm.
