Christian party starts anti-adultery fundraiser

The SGP is calling on people to donate money for a anti-adultery public campaign. The party wants to use billboards throughout the Netherlands to advertise faithfulness in a relationship, party leader Kees van der Staaij said on Pauw last night. Van de Staaij wants to sue crowdfunding to finance the campaign. He estimates that he will need at least 150 thousand euros, but would prefer to get twice or three times as much to give a "clear and powerful" message against adultery, Het Parool reports. The SGP disapproves of advertisements for cheating by dating sites like Second Love, stating that adultery causes a lot of damage and suffering. "Disapproving of adultery in marriage is a political taboo, while adultery damages so many children and relationships. I find it bizarre that there are people who earn big money with calls to deceive your own partner. Politics in The Hague look the other way and therefore we want to send a social signal to emphasize the value of faithfulness in relationships." Van der Staaij said in a statement. In addition to the billboards, Van der Staaij also plans to set up a website where people can find advise "to refresh and strengthen" relationships.
