GroenLinks won't prop up Dutch Cabinet

GroenLinks will not be part of a "prop-up construction" should the Cabinet need more parties for a majority in the Eerste Kamer, the Senate, after next week's provincial elections, NRC reports. "We will not become number 6 in a C6 or number 7 in a C7," Bram van Ojik, GroenLinks' faction leader in the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of parliament, said to the newspaper. He was referring to the current "constructive 5," in which the D66, ChristenUnie and SGP pledged their parliamentary support to the VVD and PvdA coalition in 2013. "As we have done in the past years, we will evaluate each Cabinet proposal separately." D66 leader Alexander Pechtold expressed similar sentiments yesterday.
