VVD launch internal investigation into ousted MP's integrity

The VVD is launching an internal investigation into the free election party organized by Mark Verheijen (VVD) on the tax-funded Floriade in 2012. According to the AD, the ruling party has requested that the Integrity Committee do this investigation. This is the same committee that concluded on Friday that Verheijen made mistakes in his declarations as deputy, which led to Verheijen's resignation. As deputy Verheijen was closely involved with the Floriade. In 2012 he claimed that the election party was not held as a favor to the VVD and that the party paid for the event. But the liquidator of the now liquidated Floriade states that no invoice was ever sent for the election party.
