Defense Dept. wants another billion added to budget: report

Defense wants a billion euros added to their budget. That is the core of the wish list that the Ministry handed to Minister Jeroen Dijsselbleom (Finance), De Telegraaf reports. Finance and Defense are currently negotiating the amount. Defense wants extra money for the armed forces. Finance wants to reduce the amount. In particular Defense needs more helicopters, transport aircraft, communications and information systems and medical capacity. The Marines need money to carry out three planned projects. Two M-class frigates are worn out and they need six minesweepers and four new submarines.
