20 jailed in underground poker tournament raid

Police raided a house on Kryptonweg in Amersfoort and arrested twenty people suspected of taking part in an illegal poker tournament on Tuesday night. The police received a tip that there were hard drugs at the location, and visited the home, according to a news release. While searching the premises, police "found cash, in addition to a quantity of drugs, and goods related to illegal poker activity." All suspects have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in trafficking prohibited drugs. Police are also investigating the defendants' role in violating the law regulating games of chance. Most of the suspects are from Amersfoort.
