Police enthused by military domestic security presence

Police Chief Gerard Bouman is positive about the Cabinet's decision to had some of the police's security tasks over to the Koninklijke Marechaussee (Royal Military Police), the police write on their website. "This allows us to better focus on our core tasks. After all we are primarily active in the neighborhood and want to remain in constant contact with the population to provide assistance where and when needed." The police chief said. "That requires our full attention and commitment, especially in times when tensions are rising within our society." According to the police, this decision does not arise from new evidence for possible terrorist violence. There is no new evidence and the threat level remains unchanged. The police state that the revision of the division of labor is purely focused on effective deployment of personnel and material.
