Armoured car firm Brink's agrees to terms with workers

After months of negotiations and actions, the money transport company Brink's and labour unions have come to an agreement on a social plan for the 650 employees losing their jobs. Brink's' staff protested by striking several times leaving many ATMs empty on different occasions. Unions FNV and CNV report that the new arrangements are much better than previous terms. However, the unions have failed to ensure that the redundant workers will be transferred to other fund transportation companies. The negotiators say that the pensions of all the employees have been secured and promise better facilities for all the workers who end up with the "WW", short term unemployment benefit. Brink's was forced to reorganize after losing its three key clients, Rabobank, ABN Amro and SNS Bank, which meant closing down a large facility in Zwolle. After the reorganization, 350 people will remain as Brink's employees in the Netherlands.
