Football match-fixers could get amnesty: MP

The VVD suggested an informer-arrangement in match fixing cases in the Second Chamber, VVD Parliamentarian Michiel van Veen from Cuijk told Omroep Brabant on Tuesday. Football players who were approached by match-fixers or have done business with match-fixers and want to give information about it, should be punished less severely. This would give players more incentive to inform on match fixing and should shed more light on the match-fixers' process. "We want to ask the minister to think about this", Van Veen said. What prompted this is the recent match fixing case in which Willem II is mentioned. Willem II was manipulated in two matches during the 2009 - 2010 season. The Tilburg football club and football union KNVB reported the match fixing.
