Over a million switch health insurers

Nearly 1.1 million consumers in the Netherlands switched healthcare providers by January 1, according to a study by Vektis. The preliminary numbers, released by Zorgverzekeraars Nederland (ZN), show that 6.5 percent of the country made the switch, down from 7.2 percent a year earlier. Roughly 600,000 people changed health insurers the last few days before the January 1 deadline. At the same time, “a vast majority of policyholders remain loyal to their own healthcare provider,” ZN says in a statement. Finalized figures will be released in early April.
