Collapsed crane marriage proposal immortalized as a miniature

Rotterdam Miniworld has recreated the infamous scene of the wedding proposal-gone-wrong in IJsselstein, where a crane tipped over and smashed a neighbor's roof when it was supposed to lower the prospective groom down to his waiting girlfriend. The miniaturized model was quickly recreated by staff at Miniworld's studio once they knew there were no injuries in the incident. Director Marc van Buren did not hesitate for a second to reconstruct the humorous failed proposal in miniature form, he told AD.nl. "When we saw the news on television, we immediately thought, 'that would be great fun to build,'" design team leader Dido Geluk told RTV Rijnmond. "Naturally, it does not happen every day that there is a crane on top of a house." The crane featured in the recreation will be branded with "Slootjes" on one side, the name of the company involved in the accident.
