Video: Sprinter races Rotterdam metro
"Race the Tube" has reached the Netherlands. An 18 year old boy in Rotterdam managed to race the metro between two stops. Sany Fernandes got of the train at station Beurs, sprinted to Leuvehaven station, and there jumped into to the same subway car where his friends were waiting.
OPEN Rotterdam posted the video of the sprint on YouTube yesterday.
The video shows Sanyu sprinting out of the subway, up an escalator and hurriedly checking out. He runs through Beurs, up some stairs and to the outside. The young athlete crosses the Churchill square, sprints along the Rotterdam Maritime Museum and continues across the bike path. At Leuvehaven he runs down a last set of stairs, checks in at the public transport gates and sprints down the platform. He dives into the train, where his friends are waiting, and lands panting on his ground.

"I have it saved. Super cool! It was just: brain dead and run. Bizarre man, bizarre." Sanyu said to OPEN Rotterdam after his sprint. The sprint was recorded with five cameras. The firs was in the metro. Three other cameras were manned along the 550 meters that Sanyu had to sprint. And Sanyu himself had a camera on the cap on his head.

This is not the first time someone raced the metro. Race the Tube is already a sensation abroad. In May of this year a video was posted on YouTube showing someone doing the same in London.
