Expelled Turkish MPs may start own party

On Tuesday afternoon the two expelled PvdA Parliament Members, Tunahan Kuzu and Selcuk Ozturk, carried out theri first independent political action in the Second Chamber. This left everyone wondering whether it is the start of a serious new political movement. It seems clear that the two Turkish former-members of the PvdA want to make something of their independence. The PVV dubbed them "Duo Dayenet". Dyanet is the government office for religious affairs in Turkey. They made it clear that their opinion in integration differs greatly from that of the PvdA - they oppose the introduction of a requirement for social assistance recipients to learn to speak Dutch, a plan from PvdA minister Jetta Klijnsma. After the sitting in the Second Chamber, Kuzu and Ozturk approached the press. "Through mud slinging the party leadership of the PvdA tried to silence us. They want to reduce our credibility. The PvdA is a reverse car wash: you go in clean and come out smeared if you do not do what they require." Kuzu said. Ozturk remained silent. "We call on everyone who stand for forbearance, tolerance, acceptance and connection", Kuzu continues. "Whether it be Surinamese Dutch, Moroccan Dutch or Turkish Dutch. In the coming period we will bring a fresh breeze through this Chamber." Thus far the Kuzu-Osturk group has only created a mail address.
