Crime reporter gets death threat over Zwarte Piet

Crime reporter Peter R. de Vries received a death threat yesterday afternoon because of his position on Zwarte Piet. "You're a dirty traitor Peter! How do you get it in your dirty cancer head to be against zwarte piet? If I meet you somewhere and you should hope I don't, the you get a bullet in your head! Your blood will flow traitor! I know where to find you," the threatening mail reads. The crime reporter posted the threat on Twitter. The threatening mail was sent from the email address [email protected]. A clear reference to traitor Anton Mussert. In 1931 he founded the National Socialist movement in the Netherlands. During World War II he collaborated with the Nazis, for which he got the death penalty in 1946 - a year after the end of the war. De Vries is part of a group of celebrities who, with the action group Piet Makeover, advocate for adapting the traditional appearance of Sinterklaas's black servant. Paul de Leeuw, Patrick Kluivert, Freek Bartels, Evgeniy Levchenko, Glennis Grace and Addy van den Krommenacker also support this campaign.
