Retailers abandoning Kieskeurig comparison site

Major online stores, such as Coolblue and Bol.com, will no longer publish a large part of their ranges on price comparison site Kieskeurig.nl. "This means that hundreds of thousands of consumers who visit Kieskeurig daily, will only get offers from small, relatively unknown online stores." says Ed Dorrenstein, one of the initiators of the boycott. Several hundred thousand of the two million products that are available at Bol.com, will no longer be seen on the price comparison site, said a spokesperson. The disagreement between Kieskeurig and online shops is due to the price that online shops have to pay each time a potential customer ends up on their website via the price comparison site. "Previously that price was determined by product." says a spokesperson from Kieskeurig.nl, "We have adjusted our model, and applicable from 1 October each price category will have a separate rate." Online stores pay between 10 and 70 cents per click via Kieskeurig. According to Bol.com, with the substantial price increase, it is no longer profitable for them to do business with Kieskeurig. "By determining tariffs on the basis of price, the comparator completely ignores the margins that the online stores have." Kieskeurig.nl is not worried about the disappearance of millions of listings. "It is quite normal that online stores have to make a calculation to find out if their spot on a comparison site is still profitable. It happens every day." says the spokesperson, "The door is always open on our part, we continue the discussion with the online shops.
