Dutchman may have Ebola; 15 others investigated

A man in Eindhoven has possibly been infected with the Ebola virus. The man recently returned from a trip to Sierra Leone in West Africa. The man visited his GP on Monday with symptoms similar to those of Ebola patients, the National Institute for Health and Environment (RIVM) reports. The man was transferred to Radboudumc Hospital in Jijmegen where he has been isolated. He will be examined by a specialized team this afternoon. The examination is part of a standard procedure, Omroep Brabant reports. 15 people have been examined for Ebola in the Netherlands during the past few weeks after they returned from a risk area and became ill. Thus far each case proved to be a false alarm. In Sierra Leone 130 new Ebola cases were found after a three day house arrest for its inhabitants. Until last night the inhabitants of the country were not allowed to leave their houses to prevent Ebola from spreading further. During the lock down thousands of aid workers went through the houses checking for signs of the disease.
