Forget your NS card? Pay up!
Clients of NS monthly subscription services who forget their personal travel card at home, and are forced to buy a ticket will no longer be refunded that money, De Telegraaf reports.
Previously, NS passengers who subscribed to the travel subscriptions Always Free, Weekend Free and Off-Peak Free had the right to a refund three times a year if they had to buy a ticket when they forgot their subscriptions at home.
A spokesperson for travelers club For a better OV (Voor een beter OV) now tells the Telegraaf that the NS has secretly scrapped this ruling, and that forgetful clients now pay for their mistakes. The spokesperson is angry that NS-boss Timo Hughes is hereby "robbing his best clients of a right that exists all over Europe."
For travelers who pay €318 a month to travel freely on the train at any time, paying twice for a day's traveling is cause for outrage. NS-manager Van Halen says that clients can now appeal for a compensation ruling from the NS.
