Dutch comedienne has massive stroke

Dutch female comedian Adèle Bloemendaal suffered an intense stroke, and had to be taken into hospital where she has now come out of her coma, De Telegraaf reports. The 81-year old is currently working on rehabilitation, but doctors are hesitant to say if she will ever speak again. The comedienne recently moved to a care home as she has suffered several TIA's or mini-strokes, a haemmorhage and she had cardiac dysrythmia. Bloemendaal was discovered lying on her bathroom floor, motionless. She was brought to hospital. Her circle of friends were hesitant about announcing the tragedy at first, but now that Adèle is out of intensive care and doing rehabilitation therapy, they decided to inform the public. The fact that the 81-year old comedienne is out of intensive care is not, however, putting her friends at ease just yet. She will have to learn how to speak and walk all over again. "That will be a big challenge for her, because since she opened her eyes again, she hasn't said a word. And it is a question of whether she will ever speak again. She's just lying there, it's so sad to see", Adèle's friends tell De Telegraaf. Now that she's in rehabilitation, it will become clearer how bad the damage is. "It's waiting to see how she reacts to the therapies that await for her to get as much of the old Adèle back as possible", her friends say.
