Poll: D66 the biggest party

A poll from Maurice de Hond shows that the D66 would be the biggest party if the Parliamentary elections were held now. The party now effectively has 12 seats in Parliament. The PVV stays at 24 seats in this week's poll, (now 15 in Parliament) and would be the second biggest party in the country. Two weeks ago, De Hond's poll placed them at 22 seats after the flood of negative reactions to the anti-Moroccan speeches of the party's leader Geert Wilders. The PvdA stays at 11 seats, far behind the rest. The party now has 38 seats in Parliament. The poll places the VVD (now 41 seats in Parliament), CDA (13 seats in Parliament) and SP (15 seats in Parliament) at 21 seats each. Of those questioned, 40 percent of people hopes that the current cabinet can ride it out, 42 percent of people think that this will happen. In January, only 28 percent of people hoped that the current cabinet could ride it out and 23 percent thought that it would.
