Teacher makes joke; kids get iPads

A teacher at the Vlindertuin primary school in Heerhugowaard made an April Fool's joke with a surprising outcome. On the 31st of March, the children in group 1/2 of the primary school were told by their teacher that they had one 30 new iPads, that she would give to them the following day. Her joke was that she gave them 'aaipets' instead. In Dutch the word 'aai' means stroke, and the word 'pet' means cap. So when she showed up the next day with 30 padded caps, with 'aaiPet' written on them, she did not expect the joke to have the outcome that it actually did. A company heard about the joke, and decided that the kids would get real iPads anyways. Another 25 iPads were donated to the ICT department of the school, for the other pupils. As a result of the incident, the school's directors wrote on the website that she is sad the joke was received negatively. A good April Fool's joke belongs with Dutch culture, the directors say.
