Five arrested in double beating

A police investigation is underway after three people were beaten up in the center of town in Rosmalen, central Netherlands, last weekend. On the morning of Saturday the 25th around 2:30 am, two men aged 30 and 41, were punched and kicked by a group of youths in separate assaults. The 30-year old victim was brought to the hospital with a head wound and spent the night under observation. The following morning, the man filed a report with the police. The other victim escaped with wounds on his face and hand, but did not need hospital care. In the course of the morning on the same Saturday, the police held five people from Rosmalen who might have been involved in one or both assaults. The suspects are between 17 and 18 years of age. Four of the five held were released after a hearing, but are still under suspect. One 17-year old is still in custody. On Sunday 26 January, around 1:30am, a 19-year old male from Rosmalen was kicked and punched by two suspects, injuring his neck, hand and groin. In the afternoon, the police held a man aged 17, who is also accused of being involved in the events of the previous day. He was released after a hearing, on insufficient evidence, but remains a suspect. The police is still looking for the second assailant in this case. Witnesses of the attacks are urged to call the police in Rosmalen: 0900-884 and file an anonymous report.
