Colombian held in Spain for Delfgauw murders
A Colombian national was arrested on Monday for involvement in the horrific double murder in Delfgauw last year May.
Police report that their investigations took them to Madrid, Spain, where the 33-year-old man was arrested. The investigations had pointed at him as the main suspect in the killings of two men whose bodies were found cut to pieces and bagged up, floating in the waters of Delfgauw on May 31 2013. They turned out to be Colombian nationals Jorge Ivan Suarez Leal (42) and Julian Andres Florez Morales (30), who also resided in Spain. The men had arrived at Schiphol on May 18, traveled to Amsterdam and were since then not seen again until their bodies were found by a passerby alongside the N470. Police could not determine how long the bodies had been in the water. In their press release announcing the arrest of their suspect today, they did not say whether there were more suspects and what the motive for the killing was. Relatives of Suarez Leal and Florez Morales said last year they did not know why the men traveled to the Netherlands.
