Internet fraud triples in Netherlands

In the Netherlands, the number of reports of Internet fraud has tripled in 2013, according to the Fraud Helpdesk. In total, nearly 28,000 Internet fraud cases were reported in 2013, including 22,000 phishing cases and 6,000 advance fee fraud cases, Volkskrant reported. In some cases, victims lost thousands of dollars. A broker in the east of the country lost €86,000 to an investment in a million project in South Africa. A Fraud Helpdesk spokesman said that most people do not report scams.
