Post office's busiest day today

16.7 million cards and letters are expected to go through the PostNL system today, the mail deliverer's busiest day of the year. Postal workers will pull down 50% more hours this week than other work weeks as the company prepares to process 145 million holiday cards. That number is still 9.4% down from the 160 million cards delivered during the same period last year. In recent years, the post office had delivered as many as 200 million cards this time of year, according to the Telegraaf. Mail sent during the Christmas and New Year's period should still arrive at its destination within three business days.
