Bomb scare at embassy

Police ordered an immediate evacuation of the Embassy of Suriname in The Hague on Monday, following a phone call that there was a bomb in the building. The bomb squad was brought in, but when a thorough one-and-a-half-hour comb-through didn’t yield an explosive device, they released the embassy. Charge d’affairs Chantal Doekhie told journalists the bomb threat had come in around 2.00pm. Not wanting to take any chances she had immediately alerted police. The building on Alexander Gogelweg was cleared and the surrounding areas blocked off.
