Leidseplein Attacker In Custody

A suspect is in custody just a day after police released images of a woman believed to be the offender in a serious abuse case in Amsterdam. The woman stabbed another female café patron in the face with a glass. The assault happened on the night of August 29 at the Cooldown Café on the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat . The suspect is believed to have been angry at the 25 - year-old victim because she was accidentally splashed with beer. The victim apologized and wanted to turn away , but she was struck with a glass in her face . She was badly injured, but lucky at the same time, police said. The glass penetrated her face right above her right eye, sparing her eye, according to the police report. The perpetrator is seen on video tape outside the café , smiling and chatting with a friend, seemingly oblivious of any harm. She then calmly got on her bike and rode off into the night. The police released the images in the hopes of locating the suspect. The woman turned herself in on Wednesday November 13. The investigation is ongoing, reported the police . The victim was out with two friends that night in " The Little " Cooldown café. Around 2:15 pm she wanted to cool her finger, which came in contact with a cigarette, with the contents of a glass. Another visitor was splashed with some of the liquid and reacted aggressively. The victim apologised and walked away. Suddenly she felt a burning pain shooting through her head . A witness saw the woman who was splashed violently strike the victim in the face with a glass. It is very fortunate the victim did not lose her sight, because the glass penetrated right above her right eye, according to the police report.
