Arrests after mega-fuel theft

Zuid-Holland police arrested three people for large-scale theft and embezzlement of fuels. They worked together with skippers, transport companies and other large consumers of fuel. The main suspects made deals with skippers who had to deliver gasoline or diesel to a customer. Before they arrived at the client, a relatively small part of the fuel was unloaded at a different location. binnenvaart schepen_Vlissingen

The stolen cargo was then offered to transport companies and other large consumers for a low price. These customers received a bill from a company that was supposedly specifically set up for this purpose. The main suspects are two inhabitants of Dordrecht of 54 and 27 years. They were arrested Tuesday morning. In Amsterdam, a 48-year-old skipper from Nieuw-Lekkerland was arrested. The suspects earned an estimated 7 million euros with the theft, according to the police. Eleven cars, two tank cars, three trucks, a caravan, 25,000 liters of diesel, bank accounts, property, and thousands of euros in cash were seized during searches in various locations in the Netherlands. The detainees are also suspected of violating environmental regulations
