Reduced greenhouse gas emissions

Greenhouse gas emissions in the Netherlands were nearly 1 percent lower last year than in 2011, reports CBS.The cold winter of 2012 led to the use of more natural gas, but that was offset by lower emissions from cars and less production of electricity. The Netherlands produced less electricity, because more cheap electricity was imported, mainly from Germany, reports the Central Statistical Office (CBS). The industry emitted almost the same amount of greenhouse gases. The crisis had many sectors struggling last year, but the chemical industry saw a revival. greenhouse gas emissions

According to the plan bureau for the environment The Netherlands comply with that obligation. Between 2008 and 2012 Netherlands was allowed greenhouse gas emissions up to 1001 million tons. With the international emissions trading, the pollution added up to 999 million tons.
