140,000 Visit Fireworks Festival

About 80,000 people visited the second day of the 34th eddition of the International Fireworks Festival in Scheveningen. This was announced by the organization and the police. Friday, the event attracted 60,000 visitors, thus the total number of visitors in this first weekend was 140,000. The International Fireworks Festival is an event which is spread over two weekends. Last Friday evening, August 16, was the kick-off. Belgium and Germany were the first competitors, followed by China and Austria on Saturday. This years’ edition is sponsoring the Rare Diseases Fund (Zeldzame Ziektenfonds). People who vote by SMS contribute to this fund. Besides the fireworks, visitors can enjoy different activities at the boulevard. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants, so that’s why it draws plenty of crowds every year. The first weekend last year was visited by 125,000 people. On Saturday August 24, the jury will announce which of the countries is the winner of this years’ fireworks festival. Besides China, Austria, Germany and Belgium, Spain, South-Korea, Japan and the Netherlands compete for the 1st spot.
