Dijsselbloem Joins Gay Pride

Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, will sail along on Saturday at the Canal Parade. The Minister will be aboard the boat of the PvdA. The theme of the Labour boat this year, is asking attention for the position of Russian gay activists, announced the PvdA on Wednesday. Dijsselbloem is accompanied on the boat by State Secretary Wilma Mansveld of Infrastructure and Environment, also PvdA. There are also several MPs among the 80 crew members of the Labour Party boat. The government seems to really want to show the position of the Netherlands towards the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community since earlier Minister Jet Bussemaker of Emancipation already announced being aboard the Government boat and also the Minister of Defense, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert announced that she would be aboard the Defense boat. The Government boats’ theme is ‘gay rights in the Turkish, Moroccan, Surinamese and Antillean communities’ in the Netherlands. The Defense boat is all about the equality of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders and heterosexuals within Defense Gay Pride 2013 Gay Pride Amsterdam is held this year from July 27 till August 4 2013, with all major events taking place from August 2 till 4.
