Resting Is Over

On the resting day the Tour is not at rest at all. The cyclists don’t have to ride a stage but, the place is like a bee hive. Press conferences, latest news from the team doctors, hardware repair, back ground information and previews of the days to come, keep riders, team officials, journalists and tour organisation as busy as on a ‘normal’ day. This years’ first resting day was even more tiring for all of them since the Tour de France moved from the Pyrenees all the way to Brittany. The riders and their teams went by plane but many journalists had to drive for more than six hours. Brittany is the home of famous cyclists like Bernard Hinault and Cyril Guimard. Bernard Hinault won the Tour de France five times and the other two times he participated, he became second overall. He is also the only cyclist who not only won the Tour de France multiple times but who also won the Vuelta two times and the Giro three times. The tenth stage will bring the cyclists from Saint Gildas des Bois to Saint Malo. The 197km long stage is mainly flat and while the riders do their best to win, the cameramen will do their best to show the viewers the landscape of Frances’ biggest vegetable producer, Brittany. It is expected that the stage will end in a mass sprint with the favorites, Cavendish, Sagan, Greipel and Kittel challenging each other. Who will win his second mass sprint?
