Overcrowding At Tema Port

The congestion at the Tema Port has alarmed Professor Han Ligteringen of UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands.

During a presentation at the University of Ghana and Regional Maritime University in Tema, Ligteringen urged port officials to initiate the expansion of the port and to make use of modern, eco-friendly measures to ensure the safety and growth of the port. He also requested authorities to build parking lots for the improvement of the transport sector, reports Daily Guide Ghana. The Netherlands Port Development Partnership with Ghana involves cooperation between the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Accra and 15 Dutch organizations and firms. Their main objective is to develop the ports and harbours in West African countries like Togo and Ghana.
