Seven Dutch universities are still collaborating with Israeli arms companies

Seven Dutch universities are still conducting joint research with companies in the Israeli defense industry, Vrij Nederland reported, based on its own research. Since June 2025, TU Delft and TU Eindhoven have even started three new collaborations with Israeli arms companies.

The European Commission has banned collaboration with Iwith Israeli arms companies, and Dutch universities have pledged to end these collaborations.

Vrij Nederland based its findings on a survey of experts and an analysis of data from Academic Coplicity, a research collective that maps the interconnectivity of European and Israeli knowledge institutions and companies.

A quick scan of the Academic Complicity data shows that of all the higher education institutions in the Netherlands, only Hogeschool van Amsterdam and Hogeschool Utrecht have no active ties with Israeli partners or companies arming or financially supporting Israel.

TU Delft (35 active and 23 past ties) and TU Eindhoven (33 active and 15 past ties) have the most ties. Rijksuniversiteit Groningen follows in third place with 18 active ties.

At least 9 Dutch universities have active ties with Technion, which, with the Weizmann Institute, became the military-scientific center of the Israeli state and developed Israeli military industries, according to Academic Complicity.

In addition to TU Delft, TU Eindhoven, and Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, the University of Amsterdam, University of Maastricht, Radboud University, Tilburg University, University of Twente, and Wageningen University and Research all have active collaborations with Technion.
