Missing Dronten man may have been killed during Grindr date in forest

Police now suspect foul play in the disappearance of 36-year-old Marc Jaskulski from Dronten, who has been missing for two years. Investigators revealed that he had planned a meeting through the dating app Grindr in the Roggebotsebos on the day he vanished.

Police say that something may have happened between Jaskulski and the person he arranged to meet. “However, more people may have been involved.” Prosecutors have announced a 15,000-euro reward for information that helps solve the disappearance.

Marc Jaskulski was last spotted on April 15, 2024, at 2:15 p.m. on Langstraat in Dronten. Data from his phone shows it connected to a cell tower at the agreed meeting spot and again eight minutes later from a location further inside the woods. Several months afterward, his bicycle was recovered from the water near the Drontermeerdijk.

Earlier, investigators did not rule out that Jaskulski may have fallen ill because of a kidney condition or suffered an accident. That theory has since shifted, with police now focusing on the likelihood of foul play. Despite several search operations, no trace has been found of Jaskulski, who was employed as a mail carrier in Kampen and Zwolle.

By adding English subtitles to the Opsporing Verzocht broadcast, police aim to connect with individuals who were living in a nearby asylum reception center at the time and might have relevant information.
