Woman drives 214 km/h with toddler; Second driver nearly four times over alcohol limit
A woman had her driver's license taken away after she was caught driving 214 kilometers an hour on the A50 with her toddler in the back seat. The woman had already been caught doing 194 kilometers per hour prior to this on the A1.
The speed was clocked near Apeldoorn and towards Zwolle. An official police report was filed for the speeding violation, officers from Apeldoorn stated on Instagram.
The woman was reported to the CBR, the Dutch vehicle licensing and driver safety authority, for an EMG course, which is a Behavioral Education Measure. A report was also filed with Veilig Thuis, the Dutch domestic-safety authority, due to serious concerns about the child’s safety.
“Driving at that speed in the middle of the night on wet roads with a toddler in the back seat gives us serious cause for concern,” the police officers said on Instagram.
The same officers then pulled over another driver on the way back on the A50. A car was swerving so severely that it immediately drew attention.
This led to the officers asking the vehicle to pull over, the driver blew a G/F indication during the roadside test, the highest category. At the police station, the breath analysis came back at 845 µg/l, almost four times the permitted amount.
The man was partway through a 180-kilometer drive. His driver's license was seized. He has been registered with the CBR for an EMA (Educational Measure on Alcohol) course.
In both cases, the prosecutor at the CVOM, the Public Prosecution Service department responsible for processing traffic violations, will issue a final decision on how long the driving license will stay withheld.
