Two cats shot with a crossbow in Eindhoven
Someone shot two cats with a crossbow in Eindhoven in the past week. One cat was hit in the stomach, the other near the eye. Both pets survived the attack, the Eindhoven Animal Hospital said on Instagram.
Both cats were shot on Metiuslaan in the Limbeek neighborhood, Omroep Brabant reported. The cat that was hit in the stomach was shot last Sunday; the other cat was shot on Saturday.
The cat that was shot in the stomach needed surgery, the animal hospital said. In shock, the owner had pulled out the arrow. “Once at the clinic, my colleague saw that the cat had a hole in its stomach,” a veterinarian told the broadcaster. “The specialist eventually discovered that a piece of the intestine was damaged.”
The other cat suffered damage to its skull and palate. “Fortunately, no eye or other structures were hit. The animal was mainly in a lot of pain and frightened.”
According to the veterinarian, people shooting at cats is nothing new. “But shooting a cat with a crossbow is a first for us.” The animal hospital called on the perpetrator to come forward. If you’re “brave enough” to shoot a cat with a crossbow, you can be “brave enough” to cover the pets’ vet bills, the animal hospital said.
