Showers and cooler temperatures spread across the Netherlands

The Netherlands is moving into cooler and wetter conditions this week, weeronline reports. Following a couple of relatively warmer days, the temperatures are expected to drop below the usual late September averages.

Sunday evening will be mostly dry, with isolated showers possible in some areas. Overnight, rain is expected along the coastal regions, while inland areas remain clear.

On Monday, the day will begin with sunshine; however, coastal provinces may experience increased cloud cover and some showers. In the afternoon, showers will mainly affect northern coastal areas, while most of the country is predicted to stay dry with frequent sunshine. Temperatures will reach 15 to 17 degrees under a moderate north wind, stronger along the IJsselmeer and the northern coast.

Showers may return to coastal regions Monday evening and overnight, while inland areas remain mainly dry with clear skies. Lows will dip to 7 degrees in the east and around 12 degrees at the coast.

Tuesday is expected to bring a mix of sun and clouds with scattered showers, first along the coast and later moving inland. Highs will be around 16 degrees with a moderate north to northeast wind.

Wednesday is forecasted to be mostly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Northern areas are expected to see more sunshine, while southern regions may experience periods of rain, although forecasters note that this remains uncertain. It may also stay dry if the rain passes south of the border. Highs will again be near 16 degrees with a moderate northeast to east wind.

The latter part of the week looks largely dry and sunny. On Thursday and Friday, daytime highs will reach 15 to 16 degrees, while nighttime lows could drop to around 6 degrees inland. Typical late September temperatures would normally be closer to 18 degrees by day and 10 degrees at night. Over the weekend, temperatures may rise by a few degrees, though the chance of rain is also expected to increase.
