FC Twente ordered to close sections of their stadium for Europa League game

FC Twente will not be playing their UEFA Europa League match against Bodø/Glimt in a full stadium next week Thursday. This is the second time this season that the European Football Association, UEFA, have punished the Twente supporters. This charge is for setting off fireworks inside the stadium and throwing items. This happened during the match against Besiktas last week.

The incident happened at the Vak-P stand, the sections 102 to 106 will remain closed for the match as a result of the incident. This means that around 2,000 supporters will miss out on the match. FC Twente will also have to pay a fine of 35,000 euros.

UEFA also gave Twente a similar punishment earlier this season for racist and discriminating comments towards Loum Tchaouana of SS Lazio. The club also had to pay 83,125 euros for that incident. Twente handed out 16 stadium bans after this incident.

Twente qualified for the UEFA Europa League play off round by winning their last two games in the league phase. They will face Bodø/Glimt in two matches, home and away. The first of these matches will be played on Thursday February 13 at nine p.m. and the second is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. February 20.
