Ridouan Taghi seeks Dutch government help to locate son Adil
Alleged organized crime leader Ridouan Taghi has requested the Dutch government’s assistance in locating his son, Adil Taghi, who was arrested in Dubai in November. Since his arrest, there has been no contact with the 22-year-old, and his family has not heard from him, according to a letter sent to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, which was obtained by the Dutch news agency ANP.
In the letter, Taghi’s lawyer, Sjoerd van Berge Henegouwen, urges the government to determine the whereabouts of Adil and provide him with consular assistance, including legal representation. “Since November 7, 2024, the family has not heard from Adil Taghi, and even a lawyer has not been allowed access to him,” wrote the lawyer.
Concerns have been raised about Adil’s health, with fears that he may be facing torture while in custody. The request for immediate action stresses the urgency of the situation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declined to comment on the matter due to privacy regulations. The Ministry of Justice and Security also could not provide further details. The Dutch Public Prosecution Service confirmed that Adil was not arrested at the request of the Netherlands, leaving them unable to provide further information.
Though the exact charges against Adil remain unclear, law enforcement considers him, along with his older brother Faissal, a key figure in the criminal organization led by his father Ridouan Taghi.
