Belgian railway strike to impact Dutch train services
A strike by Belgian railway workers starting Sunday evening will disrupt international train services between the Netherlands and Belgium, Dutch rail operator NS announced. Routes affected include the Eurocity, Eurocity Direct, and cross-border regional trains via Roosendaal and Maastricht.
The strike is scheduled to begin Sunday at 10 p.m. and will last until Monday at 10 p.m., limiting train services. NS has warned that passengers traveling on these routes should expect delays or cancellations during the strike period.
The impact on Eurostar services between Amsterdam and London is expected to be "minimal," according to NS. Passengers using Eurostar should still verify their travel plans in advance.
NS urged travelers to stay informed by checking the NS International app or the online trip planner shortly before departure. “Service updates will be available as soon as new information is provided,” an NS spokesperson said.
The strike is part of a labor dispute in Belgium. Belgian rail operator SNCB has also advised travelers to seek alternative transportation during the disruption.
