King’s Christmas speech commended for addressing Jewish community's concerns

The Center for Information and Documentation Israel (CIDI) has expressed appreciation for King Willem-Alexander’s attention to the safety of the Jewish community in his Christmas speech. The organization praised the King’s acknowledgment of the heightened tensions within Dutch society, particularly those resulting from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement released Wednesday, CIDI highlighted the significance of the King recognizing the pain and concerns of many Jewish individuals, calling it “remarkable” that the monarch addressed these challenges. “The King’s recognition of the tensions in our society due to the Middle East conflict and his understanding of the thoughts and pain felt by many Jews is important,” the organization said.

The CIDI also emphasized the importance of the King’s message of solidarity to the Jewish community, particularly his call for Jewish Dutch citizens to “stay! We belong together.” The organization described this as a strong sign of support and a reminder that the Netherlands should be a place where everyone can feel safe. “Especially in times of increasing antisemitism, this is an important message,” CIDI added.

King Willem-Alexander’s Christmas address specifically called on Dutch citizens to avoid importing bitterness and hatred into the streets. He directly addressed both Jewish and Muslim communities, urging them to embrace understanding and connection.
