Delays and detour at Schiphol all weekend due to track work

Train travelers in Amsterdam can expect delays and detours throughout the weekend as work is being carried out on the tracks between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Zuid station. ProRail is improving the track at Schiphol Airport from Friday, November 8, to Sunday, November 10, and from Saturday, November 16, to Tuesday, December 3, NS reports.

No trains are expected to run between these two stations until 1:15 a.m. on Monday. There will also be no train service between Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA throughout the weekend.

Travelers can take the metro or the express buses that run between Amsterdam Zuid and the airport. This will add 15 minutes to half an hour to the overall travel time.

In addition, there will be no trains between Leiden and The Hague this weekend, as work is being carried out on the tracks as well. The rail work is expected to last until 5:30 a.m. on Monday. Buses will be used between Leiden Central Station and The Hague Central Station. This will add 45 minutes to the overall travel time.

A rerouted direct intercity train will run between Amsterdam Centraal and The Hague Centraal.
