New Nightjet night trains launching on Amsterdam routes next year
Austrian rail company ÖBB will launch its new Nightjet night trains on its Amsterdam routes in 2025. “We plan to introduce the new Nightjet to Amsterdam next year. We don’t have an exact date yet,” ÖBB spokesperson Bernhard Rieder told Treinreiziger.nl.
The new trains should bring significant improvements for passengers in terms of comfort and reliability. The biggest novelty of the new trains is 28 single sleeping pods for passengers who travel alone. They also have four-person couchettes and wheelchair-accessible ones. All compartments in the sleeping car have their own toilet and shower.
The Nightjet New Generation also changed the seats. Instead of closed 6-person compartments, the seats are in an open compartment. The seating carriage also offers more storage space for bicycles and other large luggage.
The Nightjet New Generation trains already run on the Vienna-Bregenz, Vienna-Hamburg, Innsbruck-Hamburg, Vienna-Rome, and Munich-Rome routes.
