Palace on Dam Square in Amsterdam defaced with red paint by Pro-Palestine activists

The Royal Palace on Dam Square in Amsterdam was defaced with red paint overnight. Cleaners removed the paint on Monday morning.

The action was claimed by pro-Palestine activists, who said they wanted to show solidarity with the people in Gaza, AT5 reports. “The red paint symbolizes the blood of the Palestinians that is currently flowing through the streets of Gaza.”

According to the activists, the Dutch government is contributing to the bloodbath by continuing to support Israel as it slaughters Palestinians and continues to occupy more and more Palestinian territory. “This useless building symbolizes the colonial system of our nation-state,” they said.

The violence between Israel and Palestine flared up on October 7 when Hamas committed terrorist attacks on Israel, killing around 1,070 people. Israel immediately responded with large-scale military attacks on the Gaza Strip and has been incessantly bombing the coastal strip that housed over 2 million Palestinians ever since.

As of 1:00 a.m. on July 28, local time, Israel has killed over 39,324 people in Gaza, including over 15,000 children. Over 90,830 people are injured, and 10,000 are missing while Israel allows only a trickle of aid into the area, Al Jazeera reports based on figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
