Drugs and weapon found during raid in Hilversum restaurant, one employee arrested

The police raided a restaurant in Hilversum on Friday evening after receiving several tips about possible drug dealing and illegal gambling in the establishment. One person was arrested on suspicion of dealing in hard drugs, police reported on Saturday. At the time of the raid, the restaurant on Larenseweg was full of guests.

After receiving several reports, including from Report Crime Anonymously, about the restaurant on Larenseweg, the police started to investigate. The establishment "would hardly ever be open, but at odd hours, there would be activity around the building," police said. The investigation revealed strong indications that the restaurant was dealing in narcotics and that illegal gambling activities were taking place.

On Friday evening, the police decided to raid the restaurant. An arrest team was also deployed to ensure security. At the time of the raid, there were around 40 people in the restaurant. When searching everyone, the police found a pile of narcotics on one of the employees. The 37-year-old man from Huizen was then arrested on suspicion of dealing in hard drugs.

The police also found a knife on another employee who was reported to the police. In addition, ten people were gambling illegally. "These people have been interrogated. Their cases are being sent to the Public Prosecution Service," the police reported. Almost 8,000 euros in cash was also seized.
