Pro-Palestinian protestors shout down EU election debate at Eindhoven university

About 25 pro-Palestinian demonstrators disrupted a debate between European Union party leaders on the campus of TU/Eindhoven on Tuesday. The protestors stood outside the room where the debate was being held, banged on doors, screamed and shouted statements, like, "stop the genocide," "cut the ties with Israel," and "EU shame, blood on your hands."

Security guards closed the doors, and secured the with tie wraps at the academic institution, also known in English as the Eindhoven University of Technology. The debate continued as normal during the noise protest, although a TU Eindhoven spokesperson said it was disruptive.

“The volume has been turned up a little,” he said. About 45 minutes after the start of the protest, the police and the university ordered the demonstrators to leave, and they complied.

They continued to shout slogans outside, according to a reporter at the scene. Some of them were wearing masks and other face coverings. The demonstrators also waved Palestinian flags.

The European Innovation Debate was organized on the Eindhoven campus, in which seven EU party leaders discussed Europe's course in the field of innovation and technology. Among the participants are Bas Eickhout (GroenLinks), Malik Azmani (VVD) and Jessika van Leeuwen (BBB). Van Leeuwen is not the BBB party leader, but is at number 2 on the party's list.
